To Be Seen

A man went into a coffee shop, picked out a table and sat down. On the table he placed a sign that read, “If you will let me tell you my story I will buy you a cup of coffee.” He sat there all day and no one took him up on his offer. The next day he tried again, only this time his sign read, “If you will tell me YOUR STORY, I will buy you a cup of coffee.” The seat across from him stayed occupied all day long.

We all have an innate need to connect with others and to be recognized. Another way of saying this is that we all want to be seen and heard. This need is hardwired into us. It is part of our DNA. God created us this way for a reason. We were never meant to go through life alone, but to experience life through community. But sadly, for many of us, this need often goes unmet.

If you find yourself in this situation, if you are longing to be seen, I simply want to tell you – I see you. But way more importantly, God sees you!

He sees your heart and your hurt. He feels every pain and longing that you have. He knows every desire that resonates within you. And not only does God see you where you are now, he sees you as you could be! He sees all of the potential and possibility. He sees you fully free, the best version of yourself. He sees your passion and your purpose like none other. After all, He designed you this way. He put these things inside you intentionally and specifically so that he and he alone could be the one to satisfy and fulfill every single one of them.

Our perfect Father wants you to have the desires of your heart. Turn to him. Let him in. Lean in and lean on him, and together let’s watch what happens!

Psalm 37
3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
